Hey all,
Today I will be talking about Urban Decay's "Naked 3" Palette that everyone went crazy about it and was out of stock from Sephora and other stores for a while especially during the Christmas time after its launch. My sister Mariam and I were crazy searching in all Sephora's stores in Paris for this palette especially that we didn't try the first and second palette. In Sephora's website, you can see where there is stock for a specific beauty product and we found that some close stores had them in stock but when we went there, we couldn't find them and the sales associates informed us that they will relaunch them in February. My sister and I were quite upset as we wanted to be from the first ones to try it out. Later, I had a business trip to Dubai and one day my sister calls me and says "please check Sephora, maybe they have the Naked 3 palette", I didn't even think about it there but the minute she told me I ran to the closest Sephora and straight to Urban Decay counter and found five to six palettes staring at me!! I ran grabbed two without even looking and observing closely the shades of the shadows displayed! While I am checking out, I get struck by the expensive prices they have in Dubai... I have to pay 10 Euros extra?!! But I courageously paid those extra 10 Euros for each palette.. It may sound stupid for you but I already think that it is stupid for me and my sister to be crazy and silly about an eye shadow palette! Anyways, I go back to Paris and play and swatch the shadows, the next day, I visit a Sephora store near our home and I see bunch of Naked 3 palettes staring at my sister and I and we felt guilty about our purchase and laughed about our story and craziness... C'est la vie...
And now let's start the review:
1. Packaging:
First of all, the palette comes in a beautiful packaging. It is a champagne colored box showing the 12 exclusive shades in the front with its name "Naked 3". At the back, it has a little description about the palette along with the 4 samples of Urban Decay's famous eye shadow primer potions in (Original, Sin, Eden and Anti-aging). Inside the palette there is a double ended brush which is very good in quality. The primer potions are known for being one of the best ones for keeping the shadows lasting longer and preventing them from creasing. I love the Original and Sin but I didn't like Eden a lot. It is a pigmented nude shade which can help in canceling any blue spots in your eyes such as veins but I felt that it is very light and thick in consistency which makes the eye shadows harder to blend and the colors didn't pop and become vibrant as I thought they'd be.
The palette is very sturdy and of good material which makes it durable more than the packaging of the previous two Naked palettes. I feel that this packaging protects the eye shadows more. I love the color, the structure of the front of the palette and its quality.
2. Colors, Pigmentation and Texture:
The shades and range of colors are beautiful and for everyday use. They all have pink/ rose undertones and I guess they are suitable for almost all skin tones. There are 3 matte shadows (Strange, Limit, and Nooner) which I love the most. They are very pigmented and smooth and leave a nice base for the other shadows to blend. I simply love them and I am already used them a ton!
There are 3 metallic/ glitter based eye shadows (Dust, Buzz, and Trick) which are very lovely in color and buttery but unfortunately the have a lot of fall outs when used. This made me very sad and almost disliked the palette because I loved the colors so much but they are very annoying to apply. I have to always put a cotton round under my eyes to avoid fall outs. Strangely, when I swatch them with my fingers, they are more pigmented than when I use eye brushes. Another thing that I had to do is apply a cream base before I apply them so they can stick to it and become more pigmented.
The other six eye shadows (Burnout, Liar, Factory, Mugshot, Darkside, and Blackheart) have a pearl buttery finish to them, very easy to apply and blend, and they have very very minimal fall outs. I really like them and they are very pigmented.
Now I will leave you with swatches:
3. Longevity and Price:
When I applied the shadows with the eye shadow primer potion Eden, I felt that the colors faded after 3 hours of wear but when I applied my trusty and worthy Nars pro-long wear primer, they lasted up to six hours. With both primers, I had no creasing at all.
In France Sephora stores, they retail for 47.50 Euros.
In USA Sephora stores, they retail for 52.00 Dollars (About 38 Euros).
In UAE Sephora stores, they retail for 279 Dirhams (About 55 Euros).
4. My Look:
I am sorry if the picture is not of the highest quality but here, I am using:
- Strange: all over eye shadow
- Limit and Nooner: crease
- Buzz: outer half of lid
- Dust: inner half of lid
- Blackheart: to smoke the edges and lower lash line
5. My Grade: (% and A to F)
Packaging: 90% - A
Performance/ Pigmentation: 80% - B
Longevity: 89% - B
Price: 75% - C
TOTAL : 83.5% - B
I hope you benefited from my review and liked my humble look! Have you tried the palette or would like to try it?
Love xoxo,
Maha
